New date for dedication will be posted here
Renown Denver artist Diego Florez-Arroyo began painting “El Mariachi Mural” on Aug. 19 and plans to have it finished by Aug. 30 in time for planned dedication ceremonies.

Diego is a native of Denver where he was grew up on the Northside. Hi’s family is originally from Juarez, Mexico and the Denver area. He is a member of the popular band Los Mocochetes.
The Mariachi Mural is being painted on Pueblo’s Arkansas River Levee, at a location west of Union Avenue Bridge. It can be viewed from Corona Avenue.
On Aug. 20, Corona Avenue was he scene of an impromptu mariachi concert featuring Mariachi Diamante of Pueblo, according to Robert Cordova. His slain son, Isaiah Vialpando, is the central figure in the mural composition.

Since his son was murdered in 2015, the Cordova family has hosted numerous motorcycle runs to raise funds for a Isaiah Vialpando Memorial Scholarship Fund. To date, the fund has awarded over 100 scholarships.

The mural will be dedicated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 on Corona Avenue sat the intersection with Union Avenue. The public is welcome.
“The dedication will include a blessing by Father Peter, Aztec dancing by Groupo Chicomecoatl, and a live performance by Mariachi Diamante,” Cordova said.

Prior to the dedication, a Ranfla Lowrider y Vicla (motorcycle) Cruise will take place beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Imperial MemoriaL Cemetery, 5450 State Highway 78. The other stops are: 10:30 a.m. — Klamm Shell, 424 W.Northern Ave.; 11:30 a.m. — Chucks Place, 327 US. 50, Avondale; and will end at 1 p.m. at the Arkansas River Level on Corona Avenue.

With all this rain, he is able to finish by Friday? Really?
