Step 1: Make Your Donation
To start the process, please make a one-time $50 donation to El Movimiento Sigue. You can do it online at coloradochicanolicenseplate.org or contact us via email to arrange an in-person donation.
Step 2. Receive Your PIN
After vour donation is confirmed, vou will receive a 5-Digit certificate PIN # via email.
Please allow a few days for processing, as each donation is handled individually.
Step 3. Visit the DMV
Use your 5-Digit Certificate PIN # to order your new plates either online or in person. Remember, you will need one PIN for each vehicle.
How to Purchase Plates from the DMV
In-Person Ordering: Check if an appointment is required at your local DMV. You can use the DMV Online Scheduler or call 720-295-2965 to schedule an appointment.
Online Ordering:
- Go to mydmv.colorado.gov and select Vehicle Services from the main menu.
- Under Plates and Tabs, click Replace License Plates. Enter the information requested on the Vehicle Verification page.
- Choose Customer Request on the Replace Reason page. Select Yes or No on the Personalized Plate option, then select Chicana o License Plate as the Plate Type.
- Enter your 5-digit Certificate PIN # provided by El Movimiento Sigue.
- Provide your email address to receive a confirmation email.
- Click I Certify on the Fees page.
- Click Make a Payment to pay DMV fees. A new window will open where you can enter your payment details.
- The Confirmation page shows your confirmation number, select Print or Done which will return you to the DMV home page.
You will receive an email with your confirmation number and another email with your payment receipt.

Is the $50 donation to El Movimiento Sigue an annual fee?
No, it’s a one-time fee. However, annual donations are always appreciated!
Do have to wait until my vehicle registration expires to order the Chicana/o Plate?
No, Anyone can order the plate at a prorated fee based on their current registration.
How long will it take to receive my Chicana/o plate once ordered?
The plates are print-on-demand and will be produced and mailed to you within 4-6 weeks.
Is this design available for motorcycles?
Yes, the Chicana/o License Plate design is available for both regular vehicles and motorcycles.
Can I personalize my Chicana/o plate?
You can, however you lose the logo in the middle design.
